Patient report: laser eye surgery in Turkey – report from Thursday, 25 July 2013

Here are my impressions of the pre-examination, the trip, and the surgery in Istanbul. Your clinic was recommended to me by my brother-in-law, who was also very satisfied with the results. As soon as I contacted SwissLasik, I received an initial check-up appointment immediately. No long waiting times, which I greatly appreciated. SwissLasik was also very flexible in scheduling the surgery.
The clinic in Zurich, where I had the pre-examination, was very pleasant and well-appointed. The team and doctors were all very friendly and accommodating. I was always informed about what was happening. I received uncomplicated and competent advice. There were no long waiting times expected at this clinic either. Communication with SwissLasik via email was straightforward, simple, and fast. They were also always reachable by phone.
The travel documents were sent to me shortly before the trip. A wonderful, informative booklet was included, with details about the flight, hotel, transport, surgery, aftercare, sightseeing, and connections. Upon arrival in Istanbul, we were picked up by a driver and immediately felt comfortable. The driver was very friendly and told us about Istanbul’s sights during the ride to the hotel.
At the hotel, we were recognized immediately, and everything went smoothly and quickly. The hotel recommended by SwissLasik was comfortable and conveniently furnished. Its central location meant there were things to do even after the surgery.
At the Acibadem clinic, I was greeted warmly and courteously. An interpreter was waiting for me and accompanied me through all the examinations and the surgery. He also arranged drivers for me whenever needed. I never felt helpless or misunderstood, which I really appreciated since I do not speak or understand Turkish.
The surgery was performed quite quickly, with every step explained in detail. I never felt afraid. The preparation took longer than the surgery itself. After the surgery, I was thoroughly informed about what I could and could not do, and what might happen, without causing any fear. The doctor made a very competent impression.
The day after the surgery, I had a follow-up check early in the morning so that my companion and I could still explore Istanbul. Overall, I would recommend the trip and the surgery because it was professional and cost-effective. Since the surgery did not take place in Switzerland, I was also able to experience a different culture. The further examinations will take place in Switzerland, and I am confident that they will meet my expectations and maintain the positive impression. The next surgery for a family member is already being planned. I have not needed glasses since the surgery, as I had issues with farsightedness. I will now follow the doctor’s care instructions for six months. After that, I hope for clear vision. I thank SwissLasik for the great success and wish all patients the same excellent results.
