A life without glasses has always been my dream! – Report from Thursday, May 21, 2009
A life without glasses has always been my dream!
About half a year ago, some relatives of mine went on vacation to Turkey. They quickly noticed that there were many optician shops there. They asked around, and it was said that Turkey is very strong in the field of optics. At first, I could hardly believe that it was a good idea to have eye surgery abroad. However, I did some research online about laser surgery and quickly came across SWISSLASIK. The website made a good impression. In the forum, I read many reports from patients who were all very satisfied with the surgery. So, I registered for a pre-examination in Zurich via Swisslasik. The ophthalmologist said that surgery would be a good option for me. I decided to have my eyes lasered in Istanbul at the EYE-STAR clinic. Mr. Karaagacli had perfectly organized the whole trip. Everything went smoothly. Exactly one week before the surgery, I received the Swisslasik pass, which detailed the entire process. On April 17th, 2009, my journey to Istanbul began. I flew in the morning with Swiss to Istanbul. At the airport, my chauffeur, Fred Özatakan, was already waiting for me, holding a large sign with EYE-STAR written on it. He was very friendly and even spoke Swiss German. Fred first drove me to the Taksim Gönen Hotel, which I can highly recommend, and helped me check in. Afterward, we walked to the clinic. It took us only five minutes to get there. At the clinic, I was warmly welcomed by the staff. The pre-examination lasted about an hour. The doctor told me the same thing the doctor in Zurich had said, that surgery would not be a problem for me. Before the surgery, I was able to take a short break at the hotel to eat something. However, I wasn’t hungry, as I was quite nervous. When I returned to the clinic, my coordinator prepared me well for the upcoming surgery. She gave me a calming pill. During the preparation, I was massaged in a massage chair. My eyes were first disinfected. A few minutes later, the procedure began! The only thing I had to do during the surgery was to focus on the green dot above my face. It was very uncomfortable, but I never felt any pain. The doctor was always very friendly. The procedure only took seven minutes. Afterward, the doctor examined my eyes. He was very satisfied. Although my vision was a bit blurry, I was able to walk back to the hotel on my own. I was pleasantly surprised, as I could already read many things that I previously couldn’t without glasses. The next day, the doctor examined my eyes again. Everything was fine. In the afternoon, I took the opportunity to explore the city. Every two hours, I had to take three different eye drops. During the following week, only every fourth hour. On April 19th, 2009, my chauffeur picked me up on time and drove me to the airport. During the return flight with Swiss, I had to take drops every half hour because the air in the plane is quite dry. Back in Switzerland, I’ve already had two follow-up exams in Zurich. The doctor is very pleased with the results, and of course, I am too. I can highly recommend this surgery in Istanbul to anyone. You won’t regret it.
I would like to thank you, Mr. Karaagacli, again for the excellent advice and organization!
