I had my eyes lasered because I have a very strong prescription of minus eleven diopters and was also losing more and more of my vision. How did I come across Swisslasik? I had first considered eye surgery ten years ago. However, at that time, I was told that the technology for laser surgery was still too new, and that my correction was too strong to be treated. Six months ago, I revisited the idea in Switzerland and received confirmation that my eyes were generally suitable for the surgery, but not with such a strong prescription.
It was through my sister, who had the surgery at EyeSTAR in Istanbul, that I learned there might be an option abroad. I immediately got in touch with Mr. Karaagaçli. After a very pleasant conversation, I decided to go ahead with the laser surgery or possibly a lens implant operation, as it was still unclear whether my strong prescription could be treated with laser.
The departure date came closer, and my husband decided to join me. We were warmly greeted at the airport and taken to a hotel, which was in an excellent location right in the middle of Istanbul’s shopping street. The next day, we were picked up from the hotel lobby as agreed and escorted to the clinic, which was just five minutes’ walk away. At the entrance, we had to put slippers over our shoes. The waiting area was very bright and cozy. The reception was welcoming.
In the morning, all the necessary tests were done thoroughly, all with German-speaking assistance. During the subsequent consultation with the doctor, I was told that a laser operation was possible, with a small risk of 1-2%. This meant I might still need glasses for driving or reading. The surgery took place in the evening at another clinic, as the equipment at the original clinic was temporarily out of order. However, the EyeSTAR team was exceptional at the new location as well. The surgery went smoothly and quickly, even though my correction took over a minute to complete.
The return trip to the hotel was a bit uncomfortable because my eyes were watering heavily, and the car lights were very bright. Once at the hotel, I lay down for a short while. Afterward, I felt so good that I went out for dinner and then went to bed early. The next morning, I could see everything clearly—something that was never possible for me before.
Istanbul is also a city full of incredible sights. For the first two or three days, I felt like there was a grain of sand in my eye, but everything was worth it. I now happily tell everyone that I’ve gained a new quality of life. After wearing glasses for thirty years, it’s almost unimaginable how such a miracle of vision could be possible. I would do it again at any time and almost regret not doing it earlier. Dass deine Augen noch nicht ganz stabil sind, ist ebenfalls völlig normal. In den ersten Monaten nach der Operation kann es zu Veränderungen kommen, bis sich die endgültige Sehschärfe einstellt. Dein Arzt hat sicherlich recht, dass es noch zu früh ist, um ein endgültiges Fazit zu ziehen. Es ist wichtig, die empfohlenen Nachsorgeuntersuchungen fortzusetzen, um sicherzustellen, dass sich alles gut entwickelt.
