My laser treatment in Istanbul in November 2010 – Report from Sunday, December 5, 2010
I had been thinking for a long time about having my eyes lasered. However, the high price in Switzerland kept me from going through with it. One day, I came across the Swisslasik website, and it seemed professional and interesting to me. After some consideration, I decided to write to Mr. Karaagacli. I always received answers to my questions, which made me feel relieved and happy. I finally decided to go with Swisslasik.
Before my departure, Mr. Karaagacli sent me the Swisslasik Pass, which contained a lot of information about the procedure and the process related to the laser treatment. It also included general useful information. This little booklet became my faithful companion in Istanbul.
Upon arrival in Istanbul, my colleague and I were picked up by a German-speaking guide at the airport and taken to our hotel. I found this service great. We arranged a time when he would pick me up at the hotel and accompany me to the clinic. He also informed me that my appointment would have to be postponed by a day due to the doctor’s health reasons. I didn’t mind, as I was staying in Istanbul for a week.
On the day of the preliminary examination, as agreed, the guide picked me up at the hotel. We walked to the clinic, which was about 5 minutes away. Upon arrival, we were asked to wear shoe covers for hygiene reasons. In the clinic, I was accompanied by another German-speaking guide. During the preliminary checks, he explained what would be examined on my eyes and what I needed to do. Everything went quite quickly. After about 20–30 minutes, I was told that laser treatment was possible for me, which made me very happy. The treatment would take place the same day.
After a one-hour lunch break, my colleague and I went back to the clinic. On that day, I and two other patients from Switzerland were treated. We were informed that the laser surgery had to be performed at a different clinic due to an extremely rare lack of power at the current clinic or for technical reasons. So, we were driven to the other clinic, which was about 30 minutes away. The new clinic also had a clean and, most importantly, luxurious impression. We spent our waiting time outside the operating room. To calm us down, we were offered a sedative tablet. At that point, I just wanted the surgery to be over because I was becoming so nervous that the waiting time almost became unbearable. Thanks to the pill, my anxiety was greatly reduced later, and I was completely relaxed.
During the surgery, the German-speaking guide translated the doctor’s instructions for me. It was a quick process, and I just had to make sure to keep my gaze focused on the green dot. The surgery itself was completely painless, but there was one procedure on the eye that was slightly painful (I believe it was when the eye was fixed). After the surgery, the doctor checked my eyes again and confirmed that everything was fine. When I arrived at the hotel, I lay down and took a few hours’ rest. Luckily, I didn’t experience any pain. When I woke up, I realized that my vision had significantly improved, and I could suddenly read the digital clock.
The next day, I went back to the clinic for the follow-up examination. The doctor checked my eyes once more, and then I was free to go. I was able to visit the city and do everything normally. I would definitely make this decision again and can highly recommend it.
