He told me a lot about his experience, and shortly after, another person from our class went to Istanbul with friends. They were all very enthusiastic and spoke highly of it. Since I am already 46 years old, I would have needed Varilux glasses, which would have cost me around 1000 CHF. As is common, you need a new pair every 4–5 years, so for me, it was clear: I wanted to have my eyes lasered.
Having heard only good things about Swisslasik, I knew exactly where to go. We went to Zurich and attended an information evening. We were very well advised, all our questions were answered competently, and we left feeling confident. A week later, I contacted Mr Karaagacli, who sent us the offers. Shortly after, I booked for three people: my daughter, my son, and myself. On 13 October, the day finally came, and we were really looking forward to it.
The flight went smoothly, and in Istanbul, we were picked up at the airport by a friendly man. We stayed in a centrally located hotel that was clean, quiet, and welcoming. We spent three days exploring the city, and on Tuesday it got “serious.” In the morning, a hospital taxi picked us up at the hotel and drove us to the clinic. Upon arrival, a German-speaking man welcomed us and stayed with us the entire day. We were able to ask questions and felt comfortable despite the nerves—understandably excited, but everything was fine.
After various examinations and tests, we had the final consultation with the surgeon, a very charming man with a calm voice, which made me feel in good hands. Then came the operation, which lasted about eight minutes. Excitement, nervousness, a fireworks display of colors in the eyes—and it was over. We had been told in advance that after the surgery, the eyes would water for about four hours, light would be very dazzling, there would be a stinging sensation, and afterward vision would already be much better than before the operation. And that was exactly the case. The surgery was completely painless, and the four hours afterward were not very pleasant, but bearable.
We were taken back to the hotel, where we lay down and slept for two hours. After that, the world already looked completely different! The next day, we felt great. We went shopping, of course wearing sunglasses. It was simply wonderful. My children could hardly remember what it was like to be without glasses—and now! One day after the surgery, seeing without glasses—hardly imaginable, but it’s true. I can only recommend Swisslasik to everyone.
