I had my LASIK operation on November 21, 2011. I had to wear glasses for as long as I can remember, but I never liked them. I couldn’t wear contact lenses because my eyes couldn’t tolerate them. Glasses increasingly annoyed me, and I dreamed of a life without being dependent on them. You know that feeling of being tied to something you don’t want to wear?
I discovered online that LASIK in Switzerland was too expensive, and that’s when I found Swisslasik. After several very friendly and professional phone calls with Mr. Karaagacli, I decided to have my eyes operated on at Swisslasik in Istanbul. Swisslasik is extremely convenient; one phone call is enough for information, bookings, or rescheduling.
Of course, I had some doubts about having such a critical procedure in Istanbul, but I can say with 100% satisfaction that I would do it again—both because of the excellent support from Swisslasik in Switzerland and the clinic staff in Istanbul. I didn’t have to worry about transport between the airport, hotel, and clinic. Upon arriving at Istanbul Airport, I was greeted by a clinic chauffeur who explained how transport between the hotel and clinic would work the next day.
The following day, I was picked up and taken to the clinic. As soon as I arrived, I always had a staff member available to answer questions and provide support. The clinic staff were very friendly and competent. After a harmless preliminary examination, I received the long-awaited confirmation that I could undergo surgery. The doctor gave me the exact time and recommended spending time on the restaurant terrace to relax. Even while waiting, a staff member stayed with me and eased my nerves.
When it was time for the surgery, I made the mistake of not asking for a sedative and became quite nervous. The operation itself was painless. I am sure that if I hadn’t gotten nervous, the procedure might have lasted only about 10 minutes. After the operation, I experienced some mild eye burning, but after about four hours, the discomfort was gone, and I finally had a life without glasses. I cannot remember the last time I saw so clearly without glasses. The brief discomfort was worth it, and I feel more confident now than I did with glasses.
I would recommend this procedure to anyone dependent on glasses or contact lenses. The hotel where I stayed was very clean and well-maintained. The rooms were beautifully furnished, making me feel comfortable and safe. The hotel staff was very friendly, and everything was done to my satisfaction. There was a wide selection at breakfast, and for dinner as well, I would recommend the City Park Hotel. I would give this hotel 5 out of 5 points, and I will choose the City Park Hotel again for my next trip to Istanbul.
During this week in Istanbul, I met many kind, helpful, and hospitable people. For the first time, I could truly enjoy a city I consider the most beautiful in the world—without glasses.
