My experience with LASEK in Istanbul \u2013 Report from Thursday, May 26, 2011<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I found swisslasik.ch on the Internet and studied their offerings. I also looked at other providers, but ultimately the Premium Package from swisslasik.ch impressed me the most. To get a personal impression, I visited swisslasik.ch at the Holiday Fair, with the entrance ticket kindly provided by them. After forming a very positive overall impression, I booked the trip and surgery. The price-performance ratio convinced me the most.
In Switzerland, I first had a neutral eye examination done. That is, I did not go to a doctor suggested by swisslasik.ch. The doctor confirmed that my eyes were healthy and recommended LASIK treatment. On April 24, 2011, I then traveled to Istanbul with Swiss Airlines. At the airport, we were picked up in a limousine and taken to the hotel. The driver also acted as an assistant from the Eyestar clinic. The hotel was just a five-minute walk from the clinic, which was a great advantage.
The following day, I was picked up from the hotel and taken to the clinic. After a thorough examination, the doctor informed me that LASIK could not be performed due to some thin areas of the cornea. As an alternative, he offered a LASEK treatment at the same price, which I accepted, and an afternoon appointment was scheduled.
The operation went smoothly. The care was excellent, and everything was translated into German. After the surgery, I returned to the hotel and slept for about four hours. Afterwards, I was already able to go out into the city and enjoy a nice meal. Since I had two more days in Istanbul, I was able to attend daily follow-up checks.
In Switzerland, I immediately arranged a follow-up with a doctor in Arbon, TG. Because healing after LASEK takes longer, I had three follow-up visits within a month. My corneal surface has not yet fully smoothed, so my vision is currently only at 60%. However, the doctor in Switzerland spoke with the surgeon in Istanbul to coordinate the next steps. If the surface does not fully smooth out, I can return to Istanbul for further treatment thanks to the Premium Package.
I can fully recommend swisslasik.ch. I was satisfied, even though the healing process took a bit longer than expected.
