My experience report on my laser eye treatment in Antalya, Turkey – report from Friday, 13 July 2012
The thought of having my eyes lasered came to me occasionally, as both wearing glasses and contact lenses caused me difficulties. Constantly red eyes were the main problem with the lenses. With glasses, on the other hand, I simply did not like how I looked. However, I never had enough money to afford eye surgery in Switzerland. One day, my brother’s colleague mentioned that he had his eyes corrected affordably in Turkey. Naturally, I initially had concerns about whether surgery abroad could match the standards in Switzerland. However, I also realized that Switzerland is automatically more expensive and that price does not always reflect the level of service.
Based on this insight, I researched further online and realized that a trip to Turkey would be worthwhile. The clinic’s report and pictures convinced me greatly and motivated me even more. After a positive pre-examination in Switzerland, I flew to Antalya, Turkey. The very next day, a taxi took me to the clinic for another pre-examination. During various tests, the doctors found that my eyes were suitable not only for the Lasik method but also for the Femto method, a gentler procedure than standard Lasik. Naturally, I was thrilled and chose the Femto method. The entire consultation was excellently translated into German by an interpreter. There were no long waiting times, and after the examination, I was taken back to the hotel.
The surgery took place the next day. First, I received a sedative in the waiting room. Then I was brought into the operating room. The doctor numbed my eyes with drops, and the lasering began. The operation itself was painless. The unusual and strange sensation was that one of my eyelids was held open at a time, but you quickly get used to it. After the surgery, I was given glasses and accompanied to the waiting area, where three German women who had been operated on after me were also waiting. In Germany, the surgery had been so expensive that they too had chosen to go to Turkey.
Shortly afterward, I returned to the hotel and lay down. My eyelids felt very heavy, and over time I experienced headaches, which could be relieved with aspirin. Soon I fell asleep, and the next day I woke up with perfect vision of 0.00. The follow-up examination went very well, allowing me to travel home without worry. Daily putting in and taking out contact lenses has now ended. I no longer have red eyes. Having my eyes lasered was a good decision, and I am glad everything went so smoothly. I can definitely recommend it. The clinic was flawless, very clean, and the staff extremely courteous. I would especially like to praise the interpreter. She accompanied both me and the Germans throughout the entire process and supported each of us very well. Justin Ehrler 11 July 2012
