My breast reduction and liposuction in Istanbul – report from Monday, 8 July 2013
I had wanted to have my breasts reduced for some time. However, since the health insurance would not cover it, I had to wait until I had saved enough money. I then heard about SwissLasik through a colleague and researched the options for cosmetic surgery in Istanbul. They advised me well, and I also attended an information evening in Zurich. The decision to have the surgery in Istanbul was purely financial.
Beforehand, I had contacted Mr Karaagacli a few times. He always responded quickly and competently and was always open to questions or requests. He organized the entire trip, and everything went perfectly. We put together a SwissLasik pass with the times for check-ups, which was very useful. In Istanbul, we were always picked up, which worked 100 percent of the time.
When we arrived in Istanbul, we had to change hotels due to major unrest near Taksim Square, where our original hotel was located. The new hotel was not in the city center but was still well situated. Since my companion had to spend a few days alone while I underwent surgery, we requested a hotel with a pool, which was arranged.
The pre-consultation with the doctor was conducted in English, but a translator would have been available at any time. The hospital has several German-speaking staff. The doctor explained everything in detail, and a visit to the anesthesiologist was also conducted.
The surgery began the next afternoon and lasted eight hours. In the evening, I was taken to my room, which was a single room. During the first night, I experienced severe pain, though the staff checked on me regularly. At times I felt misunderstood and somewhat alone. Experiencing such pain in a foreign country was not easy for me, and I had underestimated this. I had to stay another night. After the surgery, I also felt very fragile and a bit emotionally affected. I had not expected such a long procedure.
On the third day, I returned to the hotel, which the doctor recommended as best, so my companion could be close by. I had to return to the hospital twice more for follow-up check-ups. All transfers worked smoothly. Spending extra time in a hotel after such a surgery was not easy for me. With the pain, I would have preferred to be in my own country, but it was manageable because my companion took very good care of me.
Today, I am very satisfied with the result. The doctor did an excellent job. I can recommend such a surgery. Pre-assessments should definitely be completed. Despite everything, it is still an operation, and you can never know exactly what might happen. The doctors are definitely at the same level as in Switzerland. Clara B.
