Eye Laser Istanbul: User Report – Report from Wednesday, January 7, 2009

For quite some time, I had been thinking about getting laser eye surgery.

Since I do a lot of sports and am often on the go, wearing glasses was always a bit uncomfortable for me.

I heard about SwissLasik through friends. They had their eyes lasered a year ago.

I spent some time researching the whole process. I read through the SwissLasik website and then went for a preliminary check-up at a clinic in Binningen.

At first, I was a bit unsure whether I really wanted to have the surgery abroad, but the service from SwissLasik completely convinced me.

I had multiple email exchanges with SwissLasik, and all my questions were answered quickly and in great detail; everything was really perfect. I was able to choose the date myself, and since I didn’t have much time left, everything had to be arranged quickly. SwissLasik provided an excellent service, and I received my SwissLasik pass via express mail right on time, allowing me to fly to Istanbul just a few days later.

Everything was perfectly organised. I was picked up at the airport, taken to the hotel, and everything was explained to me in detail from A to Z, even in German!

The next day, I went to the clinic. In the morning, the pre-examination was done. The whole team was incredibly friendly, the clinic was very clean, and they explained the entire process to me in great detail! The service was really excellent – I was offered drinks, received fantastic care, and the team was always there to answer any questions I had.

What I really liked was that we met the patients from the day before. It was great to exchange thoughts and questions with them, and it was really helpful!

After a light lunch, we headed back to the clinic in the afternoon for the surgery. We were, of course, all very excited and just looking forward to when it would all be over.

The fear quickly disappeared as the team reassured us and took such good care of us!

I absolutely have to mention the massage chair before the surgery. While you wait a bit before going under the knife, you can relax in a massage chair. It was fantastic!

It massaged my entire back and completely relaxed me. I had been dealing with a sore back for a few days, but after that, it was completely gone. And I was totally relaxed going into the surgery.

The surgery only took a short time. Afterward, I was able to lie down. Everyone was so kind when I complained about pain; they brought me a blanket to keep me warm and gave me a painkiller. After a while, I felt much better. I then went back to the hotel with a fellow patient and went to sleep. Tired from the medication and the surgery, I was able to sleep very well.

The next day, the pain was already gone, and I could see clearly—what a joy!

The next day, I headed back to Switzerland. Burim picked me up from the hotel early in the morning and took me to the airport. The return flight went very smoothly; I took my eye drops every hour, and I didn’t have any issues at all.

The following days were unfortunately not very pleasant, I had to go back to work, and working on the computer was very tiring for my eyes, and I always had pain in the evening.

The follow-up appointment in Zurich went very well, and now it’s been almost 4 weeks since the operation, and I feel better day by day!

I would definitely choose to have surgery in Turkey again. I found the service much better than what I experienced during the pre-assessment in Switzerland, which felt like a total conveyor belt approach, and my questions were not addressed. Swisslasik, on the other hand, took their time, as did the team in Istanbul!

By the way, the surgeon also made a very professional impression!

I really can’t complain about anything, it was truly excellent service.

For anyone still afraid of having surgery in Turkey, why be so skeptical?? Istanbul is a city bigger than the whole of Switzerland, why wouldn’t they be competent??
