A new lease on life without glasses. – Report from Friday, July 10, 2009

A new sense of life without glasses. Since my pregnancy two years ago, I haven’t been able to tolerate my contact lenses anymore. Always that itching, burning, and foreign feeling in my eyes… Over time, with a correction of -2.75 dpt, it became difficult to manage for sports and everyday life. My son also enjoyed playing with my glasses every day, and my optician was always busy adjusting them. Through friends, I heard about Swisslasik and spontaneously decided to put an end to the suffering. I did feel a little uneasy when I started seriously considering laser surgery. I kept hearing from everywhere that the risks were too high, and people told me not to do it! But I gathered all my courage and signed up for the pre-examination in Zurich. I got an appointment for the check-up in the same week. The many tests, some of which were quite uncomfortable, went well. I got the positive result that nothing stood in the way of the laser operation. After a shopping tour in Zurich, I went straight home and signed up via the internet with Swisslasik for a surgery in Istanbul. The incredibly fast support allowed me to get an appointment for surgery within 3 weeks. Swisslasik handled the entire organization, from flight, pick-up, hotel, to clinic stay. Saying goodbye to my two men at Zurich airport was particularly difficult for me. But the flight with Turkish Airlines was smooth and distracted me from homesickness. At the airport in Istanbul, I was picked up on time, and on the way to the hotel, I was able to learn a lot about the city. With German and Swiss German support on-site, the trip to Istanbul was perfect for me. I was well prepared for the surgery, so I didn’t panic during the procedure. For the preparation, I was able to sit in a massage chair and was thoroughly massaged. To my surprise, the hygiene standards were very strict. The surgery went very well, the only uncomfortable thing was the pressure I felt on my eyes. The atmosphere wasn’t as tense as you would expect in Switzerland before an operation. Everything went perfectly and was to my satisfaction. I just followed the instructions from the surgical team and diligently took the prescribed drops and enjoyed the four-hour sleep at the hotel. At first, using the drops wasn’t easy. Without a mirror, some drops went astray. This gave me the chance to experience Istanbul from a different perspective for 1 1/2 days. It’s simply wonderful when you can already see without correction after a procedure. The only longer restriction I had was with the computer and television. On the return flight to Switzerland, I was very thankful for the drops. Since there is higher pressure and air conditioning in the air, it was recommended to take the drops every half hour. At this price-performance ratio, I can only stand behind it and want to encourage those considering laser surgery to take this step. In hindsight, I would have done this much sooner because a life without glasses brings even more quality of life. Now, the first follow-up exam in Zurich is approaching. For me, this follow-up is purely a confirmation of the excellent work of the Turkish staff at the EYE STAR clinic. My eyes are doing wonderfully. I would like to sincerely thank everyone involved for their support and the excellent organization.
