Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty, eyelid correction) is a frequently performed plastic surgery procedure.

Before the operation
For approximately two weeks before the operation, you should avoid taking aspirin, sleeping pills, and alcohol. Aspirin and other painkillers delay blood clotting.

Procedure of the operation

Eyelid surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis. This means you can go home immediately after the operation.

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia. However, general anesthesia can be administered upon request.

To achieve a symmetrical result, the eyelids are measured precisely.

To correct droopy eyelids, a crescent-shaped piece of skin is removed and the excess fatty tissue can be excised. The incision is then sutured in such a way that the scar lies in the eyelid crease and is therefore barely visible.

To correct the lower eyelids, the incision is made approximately two millimeters below the lash line. Excess fat, which is the cause of under-eye bags, is then also removed.

After the operation
Your eyes will initially be swollen and bruising will occur. After about a week, the bruising and the stitches will usually be barely visible.

To reduce swelling, you can use moist compresses and cooling ice packs during the first few days. The stitches will be removed approximately five to six days after the operation.
