The laser eye surgery package deal – Report from Saturday, August 9, 2008
Go there with glasses – return without them
Istanbul is worth a visit! And for two reasons: behind the magnificent mosques, the mystical Bosphorus, and the colorful bazaars lies the real reason to take a trip to the city on two continents: laser eye surgery! Have you been thinking about having your eyes treated several times? Then don’t hesitate and travel to Istanbul.
Trust swisslasik.ch!
With our partner swisslasik.ch, this is a breeze: contact them online, book, fly, get the laser treatment—everything is included. If you want to play it safe beforehand, swisslasik.ch naturally offers you a preliminary examination at a special price in Switzerland. I only underwent a short test at the VEDIS Eye Clinic and then flew to Istanbul and had the preliminary examination and treatment at the Eyestar Clinic. Of course, doubts creep in before and during the trip: is this the right decision? It’s only human to feel a little queasy sometimes. Based on my experience, I can only say one thing: you are doing the right thing! Of course, there are more pleasant things than undergoing eye treatment, but the team at swisslasik.ch and the Eyestar Clinic make everything as comfortable as possible for you. And the result is simply outstanding and unbeatable.
Be well informed!
I think it is important that you thoroughly research the various treatment methods in advance. Always ask questions, whether in Switzerland at swisslasik.ch or at the Eyestar Clinic. The more you can imagine the treatment, the less you will mind lying under the laser. And believe me, it doesn’t matter at all whether you are accompanied to the operating room in Istanbul or Switzerland. Either way, you will feel a little shaky—this is normal! But who says that the Swiss do it better? Doctors in Istanbul have received the same training, and the equipment is even more up-to-date in some cases! Experience makes perfect, and doctors in Istanbul certainly have an advantage here, as they treat far more patients than here.
City break and treatment
Once you land in Istanbul, everything happens very quickly. After being transferred to the hotel, you will be given the date for your preliminary examination at the clinic, and until then you will have free time to explore this wonderful city. I was lucky that my preliminary examination was not until the next day at around 5 p.m., followed by the treatment. So I spent the first 1½ days strolling through the streets of Istanbul, eating mezzes and drinking ayran (a Turkish yogurt drink – highly recommended). The preliminary examination went smoothly, and soon I was sitting one floor above the operating room. I still remember how cold it was in that room – but the air conditioning keeps the rooms almost germ-free. After putting on a surgical cap and gown, you relax in the massage chair and then it’s time to get started! The worst thing for me was the brightness! Although this wasn’t so bad with the second eye. In any case, you don’t need to be afraid of pain, because there isn’t any! The operation is over very quickly and before you know it, you’re back in the warmer waiting room. Now it was time to go back to the hotel for some well-deserved sleep, and it was like a miracle – I could already see clearly without glasses or contact lenses!
