My breast surgery in Istanbul – Report from Thursday, 30 November 2017

For a long time, I hesitated about getting a breast augmentation. I’ve always had very small breasts, and with all the sports I do, I ended up with almost nothing. Thanks to my friend, Vanessa Wunderli, who had already had an experience with Medical Travel and was also very satisfied, I decided to have a consultation in June 2017. The doctor from Istanbul asked me a lot of questions, such as what I do for work, how much sport I do, etc. With all the information, he was able to recommend the perfect shape and size of implants for me. The consultation was really great, and after the positive impression, I decided to go ahead with the treatment for the end of October.

On 29th October 2017, I flew to Istanbul with my mother, and we had a pleasant flight with Turkish Airlines.

The organisation was excellent. In Istanbul, we were picked up from the airport and also from the hotel to the Acibadem Hospital, and then brought back again.

On 30th October 2017, we were warmly welcomed at the hospital by an interpreter, with whom I could speak German, and he translated everything for me, which was very helpful. Before the operation, there was a brief discussion about how everything would proceed.

My mother was offered the opportunity to stay overnight at the hospital next to me. The additional overnight stay for the companion was free of charge, and we were both very surprised and very grateful.

Around 3:00 PM, it was my turn. I was quite nervous, but the anaesthesia took effect quickly, and I was deeply asleep. After 3 hours, I woke up. At first, it was a shock, but I felt relieved that it was all behind me! It wasn’t even the pain that bothered me, but more the feeling of having something foreign in my body. I could hardly move, it was quite unusual and new. I managed the night at the hospital well, the doctors were very helpful and very friendly. The next day, I was able to return to the hotel. I felt good, the painkillers really helped. For three days, I had mild pain, and the worst feeling was the weight; I really had to get used to having 700 grams more. Once you’ve made it through the first few days, you quickly get back into your daily routine. Every movement got easier day by day.

I am very satisfied with the result. Since my cup size is between B and C and the implant is placed under the muscle, it looks very natural, just as I wanted. The scar was stitched very nicely, and with proper care, it is no longer visible.

On the morning of Saturday, 4th November 2017, I had a follow-up check-up. The doctor explained which exercises would be beneficial and that the breasts would become softer and more natural in a few weeks. He was very satisfied with his work.

After the check-up, we went straight to the airport and said our goodbyes to Istanbul. We had a pleasant flight home, and I didn’t experience any pain; I felt really comfortable.

For anyone who has reservations about surgery abroad, based on my experience, everything was excellent and well organised, truly recommendable. The most important thing for me was that the hospital has a connection with Switzerland. Since Medical Travel works with the Acibadem Hospital, there is always a contact person if anything should arise. On 16th December 2017, I already have my next check-up in Switzerland. 🙂
