A dream come true!
I have had to wear glasses since I was six years old. There is one thing I will never forget: when I first wore glasses to kindergarten, one of my classmates called me “four-eyes.” I remained known as this until I switched to contact lenses, which I never really tolerated well. Glasses are simply not suitable for my profession on stage. This was one of the reasons that prompted me to have laser eye surgery.
A friend recommended that I book with Swisslasik. At first, I wondered whether it was wise to have something as important as my eyes treated in Turkey. So I did my research and read a wide variety of reports. The report in Facts magazine convinced me in particular. And so I signed up for the operation. The trip was planned and we were given a friendly welcome at Istanbul airport. On the way to our hotel, we were given the most important information about the city and its inhabitants. We were also introduced to the local eating habits… I was a little nervous about the clinic and from the outside it didn’t look at all like I had seen in Facts. I felt a queasy feeling rising inside me. Our guide, who spoke fluent German, explained that the building is a listed monument and therefore cannot be modernized. I was relieved when we finally entered the clinic through a futuristic-looking automatic door. Everything was modern, friendly, and clean. The team introduced themselves and welcomed us. Many of them spoke German. My eyes were examined and I was told how the whole procedure would work. They said it was not certain that my vision problem would be completely corrected. Unfortunately, my cornea was quite thin and I also had astigmatism.
Before the operation, I was seated in a massage chair, everything was explained to me again, and our constant companion tried his best to calm us down. The operation itself was quite rough. It’s just an awful feeling when something happens to your eye. I was completely tense. Luckily, it was a short procedure. And soon we were discharged to our hotel. There, we had to rest for four hours. Quite an ordeal, because my eyes hurt and I wasn’t allowed to rub them… sleep was out of the question. Afterwards, we met for a sunglasses-wearing dinner and then went to bed soon after. The follow-up examination confirmed that the operation had been very successful and that I could now see even better than I had with contact lenses. So now my life without glasses or contact lenses can begin. Okay, for the time being, sunglasses were my constant companion. My eyes were quite sensitive. They didn’t tolerate light very well. Nevertheless, I didn’t miss the opportunity to explore the city. There’s a lot of interesting sights to see. I did this on the first day with quite dilated eyes after the drops for the preliminary examination, and on the last day with somewhat sensitive, but completely new eyes! And now, some time later, I enjoy waking up in the morning and immediately seeing everything clearly. I can lie in bed at night and see the starry sky!! It’s an incredible gift to suddenly see everything well without the constant stress that contact lenses bring. I can only recommend it. The clinic is absolutely recommendable, and my surgeon impressed me greatly. This was very important to me. From the very first moment, I trusted him. I would do it again. It was a very good decision to have this surgery.
