The pain fades; the result remains – Report from Wednesday, 28 February 2018
My experience report from 1 January 2018 in Istanbul breast enlargement under the chest muscle
I had been dealing with the topic of breast surgery for a long time and for me it was actually clear that I would have it done in Turkey. I became aware of MedicalTravel through an acquaintance who took the step three years ago and was and still is completely satisfied.
First I was in contact with Mr Kara from MedicalTravel. I was soon able to go for the preliminary examination in April and meet the surgeon Dr Soner Tatlıdede to discuss the steps. He was very courteous and responded to my wishes.
Just a few days later I gave Mr Kara the go ahead and he planned my trip to Istanbul. Fortunately I was still able to get my preferred date.
The organisation itself went smoothly. We flew to Istanbul on 1 January 2018, my partner and I. It was not the first time we had been to Istanbul, so we were all the more delighted to go back to Istanbul again.
We had a pleasant flight and were picked up at the airport by the Acibadem driver as agreed. Then we went straight to the hotel that MedicalTravel had selected and booked for us. The next day we were picked up again at the hotel by the same driver and taken to Acibadem. There we had to provide our passport details, give a blood sample and we were also able to discuss everything again with the surgeon. On this day Kati, the interpreter, introduced herself, who is always present for everything. We personally did not need her because my partner has Turkish roots himself. After that we were able to leave again. On that day we did not want a return transfer to the hotel because we wanted to go to Taksim. I personally highly recommend it, Taksim is lively, you can see a lot and everything is easily accessible on foot.
It was slowly getting serious.
It was Wednesday, 3 January 2018, and I could not sleep at all during the night. We were picked up very early, were able to register straight away at the entrance and were taken to the room. By the way, my partner was allowed to stay overnight with me, thanks to Mr Kara who was able to organise that. After that everything happened very quickly. The nurses came straight in, brought me the clothes and immediately prepared everything for the infusion. I was now almost ready for the operation. Dr Soner Tatlıdede came before the operation to mark everything. I was extremely nervous and scared because I had never stayed in a hospital before in my life, let alone had an operation.
The waiting after the marking was almost the worst part, you are so nervous in that moment because you know exactly that when you wake up nothing will be the same as it was before. That is why I was quite relieved when I was given the anaesthetic and no longer had to cry from excitement.
Now it begins
I was still able to say goodbye to my partner and was taken to the operating theatre. I was aware of everything until I was told to lie down on the operating table. Unfortunately I cannot remember anything after that. In the meantime my partner could see on the TV in the room when the operation was finished, whether I was in the recovery room and when I was being brought back up.
I opened my eyes and I clearly remember that I kept telling the nurse that I wanted to go upstairs to my partner. But I had to be a little patient.
Up to that point I did not feel any pain or anything else.
When I was brought to the room I was connected to the monitors. Shortly afterwards I fell asleep straight away from exhaustion. Dr Soner Tatlıdede also came by after I woke up.
I think I do not need to tell anyone that it is not painless and that you should be aware that it is not going to be easy. I had the greatest pain of my life when I had to get up for the first time, still on the same day. The first night passed with a lot of pain, but you really do get the medication you need. Please take someone with you who can really help you with everything and will do so. From that day on you cannot do anything on your own for about a week. You cannot even go to the toilet alone, you cannot pull your trousers down yourself, you cannot brush your teeth, comb your hair, eat or drink, because you cannot move your arms at all due to the pain. But it gets better every day and you become independent again.
After one day we were able to go to the hotel.
A small remark here: the only thing that was not so great was that Kati asked us to come downstairs because we were supposed to be picked up. But something went wrong and I had to wait a whole hour in the lobby, which is really not what you want one day after an operation. But after that hour we were finally taken to the hotel. The hotel staff are really very friendly and responded to all our special requests.
We still had two check ups before returning to Switzerland.
The tubes were removed after the third day and I have to say that from then on everything got much better. I was terrified of the removal because the internet makes you scared about how painful it is, but it was not like that at all. I did not even notice it and even asked when he was going to start.
Shortly before the return journey the dressings were removed.
On 9 January 2018 we flew back home overjoyed.
I still had holidays for the whole month and did not have to go to work.
After I was back in Switzerland I had almost no pain at all a week later.
Two weeks later I was able to go for the follow up check up and everything seems to be fine.
By now, after two months, I can do everything without any problems and I don’t even notice that I had surgery.
I would like to sincerely thank MedicalTravel as well as Acibadem and the hotel. I am very satisfied with their service and the results, and I can really recommend them. If you’re considering having something done, don’t hesitate to do it in Turkey – they are fantastic.
P.S.: Yes, I would definitely do it again anytime. The pain goes away, but the result stays.
