GENERAL SURGERY
Our general surgery clinic was designed by experienced physicians and their respective specializations and subspecialties. Particular attention was paid to ensuring that the areas most frequently requiring surgical intervention in society are represented.
Gastrointestinal Surgery
Surgical treatment of the stomach and intestines has been significantly simplified by advances in endoscopic and laparoscopic techniques. Our Department of General Surgery possesses a wealth of experience, particularly in the early diagnosis and surgical endoscopic and laparoscopic treatment of diseases of the colon.
Liver, pancreas and bile duct surgeries
The latest developments in oncological treatments are enabling new treatment methods for liver and pancreatic tumors. Not only our highly experienced surgeons, but also our interdisciplinary center with interventional radiology, endoscopy specialists, and oncologists are opening up new possibilities for treating liver and pancreatic diseases throughout the country.
Breast Clinic
At the breast clinic, patients are treated in a unified setting comprising polyclinic rooms, treatment rooms, recovery rooms, and rooms for mammography and ultrasound examinations. Healthcare services are provided under the direction of a tumor board comprised of specialists in general surgery, radiology, pathology, and medical and radiological oncology. This collaborative approach allows patients to be diagnosed and treated without having to visit multiple facilities.
Thyroid Clinic
Treating thyroid patients requires not only surgery but also collaboration with specialists in endocrinology and nuclear medicine. Patients at our thyroid clinic are treated according to a procedure developed by specialists experienced in these three fields.
The General Surgery Department of the Acıbadem Hospitals Group is organized so that patient examinations and treatments are carried out in hospitals, clinics, and outpatient centers. Inpatient and outpatient treatments and emergency services are available 24/7.
The department’s stated goal is to provide patient-centered, friendly, qualified, and reliable services free from medical errors. It also envisions becoming a leading center for all surgical services in Istanbul, particularly minimally invasive (laparoscopic/bloodless surgery) and emergency surgery.
At training meetings, which take place regularly once a week, all completed or upcoming operations are discussed and evaluated. These meetings also serve as a forum for developing guidelines in collaboration with the relevant departments to ensure standardized clinical procedures. Conferences and committee meetings with speakers from the departments or with guest speakers are organized to facilitate the exchange of information between colleagues from different specialties. In addition, regular meetings are held with companies in the industry, where new products are presented and platforms for discussing current issues are established.
Thanks to the depth of expertise across various specialties and areas of interest, new methods are applied, particularly in minimally invasive surgery, but also in emergency surgery and endocrine surgery (breast, thyroid, and adrenal cortex), as well as in treatments of the gastrointestinal tract (digestive system) and in hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery (liver, pancreas, and bile duct). The center is well on its way to becoming a leading center for hernia surgery and has performed numerous laparoscopic hernia repairs (bloodless surgery) in recent years.
All procedures for diseases of the colon (large intestine) and rectum (lower intestine) are performed using state-of-the-art technologies. Our patients are offered a wide range of treatments, particularly for conditions affecting the anal area, such as hemorrhoids, fistulas, or fissures.
At Acıbadem Hospitals Group, radiological examinations (X-ray, ultrasound, computed tomography, MRI, angiography, cholangiography), endoscopy and percutaneous biopsy procedures are carried out in cooperation with relevant specialists to obtain data for patient care and treatment.
