Throat, nose, and ear surgery in Turkey
These specializations require intensive, specialized training. In addition to basic ENT training, our experienced ENT and audiology specialists at the Acıbadem clinics have completed advanced training. Our clinics are fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology and successfully perform all currently available international ENT treatments.
When you arrive at Acıbadem ENT clinics, you will be examined in a state-of-the-art, fully equipped treatment room (rigid and flexible endoscopes; stroboscope, digital imaging) by highly qualified doctors who will ensure you receive the appropriate treatment. The ENT specialists at Acıbadem work closely with other specialists to provide comprehensive patient care.
Otology/Neurotology
The Otology/Neurotology department performs the following treatments: tinnitus treatment, vertigo treatment, surgery for diseases of the eardrum and middle ear, otosclerosis surgery, diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss, surgical implantation of cochlear implants (also known as bionic ears), rehabilitation with hearing aids, and adjustment of surgically implanted hearing aids. Auricular dysplasia surgery, BAHA fitting, and microtia treatment are also available.
Surgery for Tumors in the ENT Region
In ENT surgery, the most modern available procedures are used to treat the following conditions: those of the ear, nose, and throat region, the oral and nasal cavity, the larynx, and the salivary glands. Benign and malignant tumors of the thyroid gland and neck are also diagnosed and treated. In addition to surgical procedures, postoperative treatments are provided to reconstruct damaged tissue and oncological treatments.
Rhinoplasty
Our rhinology department successfully applies medical and surgical procedures to diagnose and treat nasal obstructions and sinusitis, and also performs allergy treatments. Congenital nasal obstructions, such as those caused by choanal atresia, can be successfully treated.
Nowadays, endoscopic procedures are frequently used to treat sinus diseases. Our clinic utilizes the most advanced and modern surgical navigation system, which significantly reduces the risk of surgical complications. The risk of potential side effects can thus be lowered to an extremely low level. This technique is particularly helpful for patients who have previously undergone surgeries that have altered their anatomy or for patients suffering from tumors.
Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases in Children
Our clinic is one of the few facilities offering such comprehensive treatment. Our specialists in the pediatric ENT department perform treatments that go far beyond tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies. These include: the treatment of congenital anomalies (born without ears or nose, cleft palate), respiratory diseases caused by congenital neck anomalies, as well as congenital cysts and space-occupying lesions.
Voice and Swallowing Disorders
The Department of Voice and Swallowing Disorders performs the necessary examinations, rehabilitation measures, treatments and surgeries for disorders such as dysphonia (loss of voice), voice disorders, swallowing disorders and sialorrhea (drip of saliva from the mouth).
The Lumenis CO2 laser utilizes state-of-the-art technology available at only a few facilities worldwide. Our experienced specialists use the device to treat conditions such as vocal cord disorders (polyps, lesions), tracheal stenosis (tumors of the trachea), and neck tumors. Oral and nasal tumors and skin lesions can also be treated with the laser with minimal bleeding. Furthermore, the laser offers a highly effective treatment option for papillomas, a viral infection of the respiratory tract. The laser is also successfully used in plastic CO2 laser surgery for the treatment of skin lesions.
Snoring and Sleep Disorders
Patients suffering from snoring and sleep apnea are examined at our clinic. The sleep disorders are investigated in our sleep lab so that suitable treatment methods (either surgical or with CPAP – a mask that regulates air pressure to keep the airways open) can be recommended.
Auditive Disorders and Speech Disorders
The Department of Auditory Disorders and Speech Disorders offers the following treatments: hearing tests, balance tests, tinnitus rehabilitation, treatment of balance disorders, speech and swallowing therapy, selection and fitting of hearing aids, and the implantation of cochlear implants for patients suffering from congenital hearing loss or progressive hearing impairment after birth. All tests prior to treatments and rehabilitation after treatments are conducted by our audiology specialists.
Our Audiology Department employs state-of-the-art technology. Hearing tests are conducted in standard anechoic rooms. The clinic performs Video-ENG, thermal tests, and positional tests. Patients can also opt for hearing aids, which will then be fitted. The clinic is also equipped with the necessary technology for tinnitus treatment.
What is a cochlear implant?
A cochlear implant (bionic ear implant) is a computer-assisted device that can partially restore hearing in individuals with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss (nerve deafness). It is the only medical technology capable of restoring one of the five senses. Cochlear implants can help those for whom hearing aids provide little benefit. More than 400,000 children and adults worldwide benefit from cochlear implants.
Unlike conventional hearing aids, cochlear implants do not amplify sounds but convert them into electrical signals. Hearing aids require functioning hair cells in the inner ear, whereas cochlear implants bypass the damaged hair cells and convert speech and sounds into electrical signals, which are then transmitted to the auditory nerves.
