Eyebrow transplant
Eyebrow transplant
Eyebrow hairs, like scalp hair, have a growth phase and a resting phase. In many cases, over-plucking of the eyebrow hairs, skin conditions like alopecia areata, permanent makeup, chemotherapy, etc., can cause deformities or loss of eyebrow hairs. Once the underlying causes are addressed, the lost eyebrow hairs typically regrow within a year.
Eyebrow hairs that do not regrow can be replaced through a transplant. The eyebrow transplant, like a hair transplant, involves transplanting hair follicles taken from the nape area. The nape hairs are lifted, and a 1 cm wide and 5-10 cm long horizontal strip is shaved according to the number of follicles to be transplanted. Then, the hair follicles are removed using a micromotor with very fine punches. Since the extraction area is very small, there are no visible traces left in this area. Depending on the need, 40-50 to 400-500 grafts can be taken and transplanted to the required area. The transplant is performed under local anesthesia, and the person feels no pain during the procedure. The anatomical structure and growth direction of the eyebrows must be considered during the transplant.
Eyebrow transplants performed by specialists and an experienced team result in an extremely natural outcome. It takes 4-6 months for the eyebrows to recover and take their final shape. After 2 months, the person can pluck their eyebrows. The first eyebrow hairs that appear after the transplant grow like scalp hair because they have the characteristics of hair. After about a year, the growth stops as the blood circulation in the eyebrow area has adapted, and the hairs take on the characteristics of eyebrow hairs.
