My LASIK treatment in Antalya, Turkey via MedicalTravel – report from Thursday, 2 August 2012
About a year ago, I decided to finally get rid of my glasses, as I found them bothersome and they affected me in many situations. Since laser surgery in Switzerland is very expensive and I could not afford it, I looked for alternatives and came across many clinics abroad offering laser eye surgery. The MedicalTravel clinic website immediately gave me a very professional impression, especially since there are regular information events in Switzerland where you can learn without obligation and clarify all questions with the doctors performing the surgery on-site. The fact that pre- and post-examinations could be done in Switzerland also inspired a lot of trust in me.
The clear and structured price list on the website allowed me to see the costs involved. I was able to contact MedicalTravel quickly and easily via email. I decided to have my eyes lasered at the MedicalTravel clinic in Antalya and combine it with my summer holiday in Side, Turkey. The appointment was scheduled via email, and everything was organized (pick-up and return to our hotel in Side, surgery, overnight stay, and pre- and post-examinations). All my open questions were answered. Communication with MedicalTravel was very easy and uncomplicated.
Before departure, I received the MedicalTravel pass, a very useful guide with all important information about the surgery, key phone numbers, useful information about the country, and tips for sightseeing. Two days before the surgery, the on-site interpreter called to inform me of the pick-up time and the schedule for the day. On the day of the surgery, I was picked up on time by the driver and brought to the MedicalTravel clinic, where the interpreter welcomed me warmly. She explained the procedure and stayed with me to translate everything.
The pre-examinations began and everything was explained very clearly. After the pre-examinations were completed around midday, I had lunch with the five other patients from Germany. Around 3:00 pm I underwent surgery. Because I had been well prepared, I knew exactly what to expect. The surgery for both eyes took around 20 minutes. I felt no pain during the procedure and only experienced slight pressure in my head afterward. I then slept for a few hours. I was very surprised that, aside from the slight pressure, I had no pain and could even read my first text message on my phone without glasses that same evening.
The next morning, the follow-up examination took place and everything was fine. I was given eye drops to use several times a day along with instructions on how and when to apply them and what to watch for in the weeks after surgery. The driver returned me to my hotel. During the first two days, I wore sunglasses frequently because my eyes were still slightly light-sensitive. My joy was and still is immense, as I can now live without any visual aids. I feel truly liberated; I have finally gotten rid of my bothersome glasses. I always felt very well cared for at the MedicalTravel clinic in Antalya and can only recommend it.
