My experience report about my surgery – Report from Tuesday, April 15, 2008

I have had to wear glasses since I was 9 years old, and I started wearing contact lenses at 15, but that was impractical and tedious. I entertained the thought of having eye surgery, but I was too young and my vision was not stable, so I had to wait a while.

I wanted to have the operation performed in Switzerland and looked for information on the internet regarding the options available in Switzerland or France; in doing so, I came across swisslasik.ch and it immediately caught my attention.

I asked for more information and received the brochure four days later, after which I wanted to know whether I would be a suitable candidate. I then arranged an appointment for a preliminary examination and everything went well.

Three weeks later, I flew to Istanbul full of joy, also because I wanted to visit this beautiful city.

The pick-up service was punctual and I was driven to the hotel, where my mother was waiting for me (she had arrived 5 hours before me). The room was very small, but what was important to me was that the hotel was located directly opposite the clinic, which was very pleasant after the surgery.

The following day, we went on a tour of the Old City with Birol (a clinic employee) and another patient who had undergone surgery the day before.

I asked him all my questions about the surgery and was amazed that he was already so fit, which reassured me.

The next day at 10.00 am I had the preliminary examination and at 12.00 pm the operation.

Before the surgery they gave me a sedative tablet and then I sat in a massage chair (superb piece of equipment!) where they disinfected my eyes, and shortly after I went into the operating theatre and lay on a bed (I was a bit scared then). They opened my eyes and fixed them with a device so that I would not involuntarily close my eyes during the laser treatment. After that I was able to switch off and think of something pleasant to lose the fear, although I had to concentrate on the green light.

The surgery went very quickly and I did not feel any pain at all. After a brief check by the doctor, I had to go to the hotel to rest my eyes.

I slept deeply for four hours and then I opened my eyes and what a FEELING I was very happy because I could already see super well but I did not want to strain my eyes.

The next day I had a brief follow-up examination and everything was TIP-TOP!

I was able to enjoy Istanbul for another four days, but it was a shame that the weather was not so good.

Four days ago, I had the first follow-up examination in Zurich. It was determined that the right eye has an astigmatism, which slightly reduces visual acuity.

I am very satisfied with the result of the surgery, I enjoy life much more without visual aids.
