Experience Report: Breast Reduction and Liposuction in Turkey
For many years, I had problems due to the size of my breasts. In addition to back pain and the psychological impact, I also constantly struggled to find clothes that fit me. Buying bras and bikinis was always a challenge. On top of that, about two years ago, I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition, which caused me to gain around 10 kilograms. This made me feel very uncomfortable in my own body. Even exercise and a healthy diet could not help me.
This summer, I looked into the possibility of a surgical procedure. It quickly became clear that I could not afford the procedure in Switzerland, so I started exploring other options. That’s when I came across the many providers offering operations in Turkey. Many of them, however, were based in Germany. Others advertised very low prices and did not seem very trustworthy. During more in-depth online research, I then came across MedicalTravel, which has an office in Bern.
I was able to register for a free consultation with the surgeon in Zug. During this appointment, we discussed the options for breast reduction. I was able to ask all my questions and was informed about the procedure. After the discussion, it was very clear to me that I wanted to have the procedure done with this provider.
I received a quote for the price, which, including flight, hotel, and transfers, was still less than half the cost of the treatment in Switzerland. So I booked the package. Two weeks before departure, I inquired about the possibility of liposuction on the stomach and sides. This was discussed with the surgeon and booked as a second procedure.
In Turkey, we were picked up from the airport by a driver and taken to our hotel. It was located on the Asian side of Istanbul, which is much less touristy, allowing us to have a very authentic experience in the city. Although people spoke little English, they were very helpful.
On the day of the procedure, we were again picked up by a driver and taken to the nearby hospital. There, we were greeted by a German-speaking interpreter who assisted us with administrative matters and preliminary examinations. Soon after, I was taken into the operating room and woke up about five hours later. The hospital staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A bed was set up for my partner next to me, and he was provided with meals. During the first night, a nurse came every 30 minutes to check on me, help me take a few steps, or assist me in any other way.
The next day, I was allowed to return to the hotel, where I spent the next three days mostly resting. After that, it was time for the check-up with the surgeon. He examined my wounds and gave me the all-clear for the return flight a few days later.
After 10 days, I was able to remove the bandages at home with some help. Some of the wounds were still slightly open but healed over the following weeks with proper wound care. The pain and numbness from the liposuction lasted for some time but decreased day by day.
I am extremely satisfied with the result. I have regained much of my former freedom and feel comfortable in my body again. I would choose the treatment in Turkey again at any time. I felt very well supported by MedicalTravel and was also able to attend a follow-up consultation in Switzerland.
