Experience Report – Breast Implants in Istanbul

I’m 35 years old and have two children, aged 7 and 4.5 years. Due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, my breasts have suffered. It had been clear to me for a while that I would undergo a procedure sooner or later. For the past six years, I’ve repeatedly thought about this issue and even discussed it with my gynecologist. He recommended someone to me, but they were asking for over 11,000 CHF, which was just too expensive for me.
I came across MedicalTravel through the internet. I was fascinated by the website, and when I saw the prices, I was amazed. I immediately signed up for a consultation in September 2016.

Eagerly, I went with my husband and even the kids (since I had no one to look after them and Mr. Kara kindly said I could bring them along) to the meeting. We were warmly welcomed. During the consultation, an interpreter was present. The doctor examined me and explained in detail what would be done, how, etc. All our questions were answered competently. I even set a provisional date for the beginning of 2017 during the consultation. We went home, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I was very convinced about having the procedure done there. A week later, I officially signed up for the surgery on 2nd January 2017. I was really excited but not nervous at all.

On 1st January, the day had arrived. My parents accompanied me to Istanbul. We were warmly welcomed at the airport and then taken to the hotel.

The hotel is a small, charming hotel about 50 meters from the Acibadem hospital. On 2nd January 2017, we were picked up by the driver at 7:30 AM. My mom was nervous, but I wasn’t at all. We were welcomed at the hospital, and the blood tests were done right away. After that, we met the interpreter, who is a very lovely young lady. She accompanied us from that moment on.

Then we had the consultation with the surgeon, Ms. Ünal. She took some photos of my breasts and explained everything to us once again in detail. In a short time, she had earned my trust. The surgery was scheduled for 9:00 AM. I was taken to a beautiful, large room where some general questions were filled out. After that, the anesthesiologist came, prepared everything, and I had to change into the gown and head covering before lying down on the bed.

I said goodbye to my parents, and then it was time. I still wasn’t nervous. I only remember that we took the elevator, and then, hours later, I woke up and everything was already over.

I was then taken to my room, where my parents were already waiting for me. The surgery had been successful. I was in bed with my new breasts, wearing a special bra and an elastic bandage on top, and I had an IV drip. I was still very tired and mostly slept the entire time.

My mother was allowed to stay with me in the hospital. They were extremely helpful and very kind. I got through the night at the hospital well. Every hour, a nurse came to check on my breasts. I was really impressed by the care I received.

Since my mother had already started a root canal treatment in Switzerland and still needed further procedures, she asked our interpreter if it would be possible to have the treatment done here at Acibadem as well.

The interpreter took my mother by the hand and they went straight to the dental department. My mother was given an appointment immediately and was very satisfied with the treatment. And all of this for a fraction of the cost. She was amazed and said that she had never seen such infrastructure in Switzerland.

I stayed in the hospital the entire day and was already able to get out of bed in the morning. My mother had to help me, as I was quite limited, and of course, there was pain! It felt like an extremely intense muscle soreness. For those who have given birth, I would say that giving birth without an epidural was more painful.

In the evening, I was discharged from the hospital, and we were driven to the hotel. The night at the hotel wasn’t great; I didn’t know how to sleep. At the hospital, the bed could be adjusted up and down, but that wasn’t the case at the hotel. Then, there were also these two drains under my armpits through which blood was still draining. They were painful and uncomfortable. However, they were removed the same day by the surgeon. The removal was a bit painful, as they were about 10 cm deep in the skin. After this check-up, we went to the Cevahir shopping center, which was very close by. Since it was impossible to wash my hair myself, I went to a hairdresser and treated myself. I regularly took the medication I was given at the hospital.

During this time, I had another check-up on Friday. The doctor was pleased with the progress. I had to wear the bra for another three weeks. The pain gradually became less, and I felt less restricted.

Last week, I visited my gynecologist, and he was thrilled with the result. He also mentioned that the size and everything else fit perfectly with my body.

Ms. Ünal was here in Switzerland on 22nd January and held consultation days. This was perfect for me, as I was able to receive another free consultation from her after three weeks. She was satisfied with the progress but recommended that I continue wearing the bra and bandage for another three weeks.

For anyone who is still unsure and afraid of having a procedure done in Istanbul – I hope I’ve been able to ease your concerns and convince you. I would do it there again without hesitation. The doctors here could learn a thing or two from them.
