My experience report on dental treatment in Istanbul – Report from Saturday, 31 October 2015

I was in Bern in June for a consultation with Dr. Öztürk for a dental treatment in Istanbul.

She recommended 8 ceramic veneers for me, as I had dark discolorations on my incisors due to an accident.

Dr. Öztürk had sterile instruments with her to carefully examine my teeth.

After a lot of back and forth with finding a suitable appointment and many questions, I spontaneously and last minute (just one week before the appointment) decided to have the treatment done in Turkey. I was amazed that, despite such short notice, everything was perfectly organized!

Shortly after my confirmation, I received all the relevant information and documents for my trip.

When I arrived in Istanbul on Sunday evening, I was about 40 minutes late. The pick-up service waited for me, even though there were other patients already in the vehicle.

The next morning, I walked to the clinic as it was less than 5 minutes away from the hotel.

I was warmly welcomed. Initially, I didn’t have an interpreter as she was still with other patients, but since the dentist spoke very good English, it wasn’t an issue for me.

She carefully and patiently explained the treatment process and the next steps, and she took my wishes into account.

After my teeth were filed and the impressions were taken, I was given a temporary restoration, as the next appointment was only on Wednesday.

So, I had 2.5 days to explore Istanbul. At first, I was nervous about traveling to Istanbul alone as a woman, but that fear quickly faded.

From the hotel, I walked a lot on my own, for example, to Taksim Square or to the Cevahi shopping center. I had a city map with me to ask people for directions (everyone was very helpful, even if they only spoke Turkish :)). I never felt uncomfortable and managed very well.

On Wednesday and Thursday, I had another fitting for the veneers, and in between, I had plenty of time to visit the sights.

On Friday, the veneers were finally applied. On Saturday morning, I had a follow-up check-up.

And the result is simply AMAZING!
