Patient report- Autologous hair transplantation with FUE in Istanbul – Report from Friday, 8 January 2016

I am 26 years old and recently decided to undergo a hair transplant in Turkey because I suffer from severe hair loss. At first, I didn’t want to admit that my hair loss bothered me more than I cared to admit, but eventually, I had to accept that it was true. In today’s world, I believe that one shouldn’t hide and should be open about this issue, but it also requires a bit of courage and certainly a lot of determination.

First, I researched possible treatment methods online, compared various providers and prices, asked around in my family, and eventually, based on a friend’s recommendation, I ended up with MedicalTravel. I can’t say yet if I will be satisfied with the final result, as the procedure was only a month ago. I am satisfied with the organization by MedicalTravel, as everything was well-organized, the hospital had a very high standard (similar to Switzerland), the doctor was competent, and the care (excellent German skills) was very friendly. Ultimately, the price was the deciding factor.

The treatment team that performed the procedure on me was very, very friendly. The anesthesia was quite painful, but during the procedure, I didn’t feel any pain at all. The procedure took about 6 hours, and afterwards, I was quite exhausted and just wanted to go back to the hotel. Don’t be startled when you look at yourself in the mirror – it looks very painful and not particularly pretty, and you need to be aware of that. People will stare at you as if you’re from the moon or someone with a disability. I don’t say this out of disrespect, but this is the reality. Many people are unfamiliar with it, and they are curious, which is why you get looked at. At first, it’s very, very difficult, but you will learn to accept the stares and block them out.

My overall impression is positive, and I would do it again at any time. The care, the doctor, the hospital, the treatment, and the result were all convincing.
