Patient report- Breast augmentation in Istanbul – Report from Wednesday, 18 May 2016
So… I decided to go for breast surgery because I had wanted larger breasts for years. Since I had lost weight, my breasts had also reduced, and I was unhappy with myself.
My colleague told me that she had also had her breasts done, in Istanbul at Acibadem Hospital. I was very curious and asked her everything from A to Z. I looked at the website and gathered information. However, I was also very afraid of having it done abroad, especially because of the bombings happening around the world. Yet my desire was so strong! I communicated daily with the coordinator via email and explained my wishes. He organised everything and always replied to me very quickly.
One day before flying to Turkey, I had an appointment with the doctor himself, Ferit Demirkan. He examined my breasts and explained what could be done. Everything was also translated for me.
On 2 May, I finally flew to Turkey with my dearest friend. When we arrived, there was a desk at the airport where we were picked up. We were taken directly to the hotel (Orya Hotel), which we had booked for the first night. The hotel was very close to the hospital. When we arrived, we went to the hospital and had a look around… It was very beautiful, clean, elegant, and modern. I was impressed.
The next day, 3 May, was my operation… In the morning, we went to the hospital. We were met by my translator, who explained and translated everything for us. Around 10 a.m., I was prepared, given my clothes, etc., and spoke with the doctor once more. He showed me the implants, and we discussed everything in more detail. At 1 p.m., it was time. I was sooooo nervous, and my friend was too. He gave me strength and distracted me until it was time.
The doctors came to get me… We went all the way down in the elevator, and it felt like a horror movie haha because I was scared, being alone without my dearest. When we reached the operating room, I received two injections and then I was out… At 6 p.m., I woke up and couldn’t remember how I had fallen asleep at all. The first thing I asked was: Is everything okay??? The doctors said YES, and I was very relieved!
After that, they took me to the room, and my friend was already waiting for me very anxiously. He was also very nervous. At first, I didn’t have much pain, but then… it was absolute horror for me. I couldn’t sleep or move all night because of the pain. My friend had to do everything for me from A to Z. I felt like a queen. Thank you to my king!
I immediately had a support bra on and two drains on the left and right. They were very painful. Blood came out through the drains, and the doctors emptied them as soon as they were full. What I also found very good was that whenever I was in so much pain and pressed the button, the doctors were already with me within a few seconds and gave me pain medication through the IV.
The next day, 4 May, we were then able to stay in a hotel right in the city. I also wanted to distract myself a little from Istanbul… during the first three days I had such severe pain that I even cried. I could not bear it anymore. Fortunately, I still had three different painkillers from the hospital, which I took.
Three days after the operation I was finally able to have the drains removed because there was less blood coming out, which was good. We were picked up and taken to the hospital. Dr Demirkan removed them and it was very painful for me, but I could move my arms again, hooray, finally. I saw my breasts and I was thrilled. Perfect size and a beautiful teardrop shape exactly as I wanted and as suited my body. We enjoyed the remaining days in Istanbul and after a total of one week we flew back to Switzerland. We were also picked up from the hotel then and driven to the airport.
I am very satisfied with everything, the result, the doctor and the organisation. I can only recommend it.
Thank you very much
