My rhinoplasty in October 2019 in Istanbul

As my nose had been bothering me for a long time, but surgery in Switzerland was not an option for me, I sought another solution.

After a quick search on the internet, I came across MedicalTravel. I was pleasantly surprised to see that consultations were taking place near me. On a Saturday, I had this consultation, and Dr. Sükrü Yazar was present, along with an interpreter. My concerns were discussed, and Dr. Sükrü Yazar explained the procedure, possible complications, and provided further information. Photos were also taken, and he examined my nose.

Afterwards, I needed some time to think about whether this was the right doctor for me. During this time, I was in contact with Mr. Kara, who supported me and was there to help with any questions.

Once I was sure, the entire trip and surgery were planned for my desired date. It was arranged very quickly, and everything was communicated to me, so I could decide if the hotel, etc., was suitable for me. If any questions arose, they were clarified very quickly, which impressed me a lot.

A few months after booking, I flew to Istanbul with my companion. Everything went smoothly, and I was also informed by MedicalTravel the day before about the transport and other details.

The Acibadem Helppoint, where I was supposed to check in, was right after customs and easy to find. We were greeted warmly and taken directly to our hotel.

We spent one night there, and the next day at 6:00 a.m., I was picked up and taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, we didn’t find the registration office right away, and there were very few people there since it was early in the morning. After some time, we found the office, and some details were recorded. At first, it was a bit difficult and frustrating because the two staff members only spoke Turkish, but once the interpreter arrived, she made a great effort to help us feel more comfortable again.

I was then taken to my room, which looked more like a hotel room and was very spacious and beautiful! My companion even had their own bathroom and a room with a couch and TV. They were also provided with food, and we didn’t have to pay any extra costs. Before the surgery, I saw Dr. Sükrü Yazar again, as well as the anaesthetist, and we went over everything once more. Then, the time had come, and I was taken to the operating room.

After the surgery, I stayed at the Acibadem hospital for the rest of the day and the following day, receiving care both day and night. I didn’t experience any pain, and I felt comfortable. The nurses made a great effort, even though most of them only spoke Turkish. However, I could contact the interpreter at any time, and she clarified everything for me. In general, you need a bit more patience and occasionally have to wait a bit longer, but you quickly get used to it, as we are very spoiled in Switzerland!

Before being discharged, I was once again explained how to use the medications. My follow-up appointment was 5 days later, but at a different Acibadem hospital. There, the stitches were removed, the cast was taken off, and a thin bandage was applied, allowing me to fly home afterwards.

The hotel was great, and especially the food was very delicious. The price is very low for what you get!

Despite the surgery, I had time to explore the city, which I really enjoyed, as Istanbul is an extraordinary city and definitely worth seeing.

I am increasingly satisfied with the result of my nose.
