Patient testimonial- Autologous hair transplantation in Istanbul – Report from Friday, 13 November 2015

As an introduction, I would like to briefly explain how I came to the decision to have my thinning spot (tonsure) corrected.

Unfortunately, almost exactly 5 years ago, I suffered a severe infection, which, among other things, caused all my blood values to drop even lower than expected, including my iron levels. This had the effect of causing my hair to fall out, which is exactly what happened. Since I’m no longer 25, the hair didn’t really grow back, leaving me with a thinning spot.

Since then, it bothered me, though not “life-threatening,” but still, I left it as it was until that day in August 2015. In a gym where I often go, there is a surveillance system, and when you walk by, you see yourself on the screen. Since the camera shows you from above, I noticed a spot with less hair – at that moment, I was determined, it had to be corrected.

Although I speak perfect English, a German-speaking caregiver was there from day one and hardly left my side – perfect.

The preparation for the actual transplantation the following day also went perfectly. The procedure was originally planned for the third day, but the doctor wasn’t feeling well and it had to be postponed to Thursday. He said that he couldn’t take responsibility for performing the work properly in his condition – I must mention, this was extremely professional.

So, Thursday it was. Istanbul is huge, and there are a million things to do and see, so no problem at all. What can I say, the transplantation surgery also went perfectly. It did take a bit of time, but as they say, beauty requires a little suffering. Just to be clear, everything was completely pain-free for me, totally easy, and the medical team was upbeat and performed the work in an extremely professional manner.

I’m already very excited about the result, although the final outcome can only be judged in about a year. However, the medical team already mentioned that I will be very pleased with it.

To conclude, I can only say that it was a real pleasure how everything went. From the departure, the stay in Istanbul, the hotel, the Acibadem Clinic, “my” caregivers, all the transfers, and last but not least, the return journey – it really couldn’t have been done any better. I was also contacted shortly after to check on my well-being, with MedicalTravel asking how I was doing – you’re never left alone for a second, it’s truly wonderful.
