My breast surgery in the city on two continents – Report from Thursday, 27 April 2017
Due to weight loss, I no longer felt comfortable in my own home. Many women in my circle had already undergone such a procedure, and most of them had it done in Istanbul. That’s how I came across MedicalTravel. Since the company is based in Switzerland and has close ties with the Acibadem hospitals in Turkey, I made an appointment.
The consultation in Bern was very informative. Photos were taken and sent directly to the responsible doctor in Istanbul. All of this was free of charge and without any obligation! WOW.
I stayed in contact with MedicalTravel over a period of time, giving me plenty of time to reconsider my decision. All of my thousand questions were always answered promptly, which gave me a lot of reassurance.
So, by December 2016, my decision was final. I wanted to go to Istanbul, and I was determined to have this surgery. I informed MedicalTravel, and they took care of everything. They arranged the entire trip for me and sent me a possible itinerary. Since I had acquaintances in Istanbul, I had already booked my flight and hotel through them, but that wasn’t a problem either. MedicalTravel just needed to know when and where the transfer should take place, so I could get from the airport to the hotel without any issues or risks.
So, the day had finally come. On 10th February 2017, I flew with my mom and a good friend on Turkish Airlines. Upon arriving in Istanbul, the staff from the Acibadem Hospital was already waiting for us. They drove us to our hotel in Taksim. The next morning, we were picked up and driven to the hospital in Maslak for the surgery consultation.
Upon arriving in Maslak, we were greeted by our German-Turkish-speaking interpreter, Tolga. He was very friendly and upbeat. Then, it was time for the consultation with the anesthesiologist, and various tests were done. Everything was perfect, and I was cleared for surgery. We then had a brief visit to the office of Dr. Yazar Sükrü, who even spoke a little German. I was very impressed with him, and after this conversation, I felt even more reassured and well taken care of.
13th February 2017 – Surgery day. I was so nervous, yet everything went so quickly. At the hospital, my dear doctor, Mr. Yazar, greeted me again. With a bright smile, he said “Hello, everyone!” in German. In the room, he started marking my body, measuring everything precisely and drawing the outlines. The surgery could begin. IV, anesthesia, 1…2… and I was already out.
…Still very weak, but awake, I found myself in the beautiful private room. It’s worth mentioning that Acibadem is a private hospital, and the best part is that it feels like being in a hotel. I could feel the pain, but I had the most caring nurses by my side, who supported me around the clock and took excellent care of me for 24 hours.
Everything went to my complete satisfaction. I could tell you so much more, but you’ll have to experience it for yourself. Be brave. Take the step to Istanbul and make your dream come true. I can only recommend it.
Dr. Yazar even came to Switzerland a month after my surgery, and I was able to schedule an additional follow-up appointment with him. That’s service, and this doctor is simply amazing.
I showed many of my friends the results of my breast surgery, and I only received positive feedback. My wish came true, and I hope the same for you!
A big thank you to MedicalTravel, Acibadem, and of course, Dr. Yazar!
