My nose treatment in Istanbul – Experience report nose surgery Turkey – Report from Thursday, 3 November 2016
I had been thinking for some time about getting my nose enhanced through surgery. However, because the prices in Switzerland are extremely high, I quickly dismissed the idea.
A friend who had laser eye surgery in Turkey gave me the idea to look for offers in Turkey. After contacting several agencies that organize procedures abroad, I finally scheduled a free consultation in Switzerland with Medical Travel and the surgeon from Istanbul. The process and the risks were explained to me in detail.
I then made the final decision to go ahead with the surgery. The organization through MedicalTravel was simple and straightforward.
Five months later, I arrived in Istanbul the day before the surgery. We were picked up from the airport and driven directly to the hotel. All transfers between the airport, hotel, and hospital were organized. Upon arrival at the hospital, I was immediately taken to my single room. Some tests were done, and various questionnaires were filled out. Then it was time to wait. It was only after about 5 hours that I could speak with my doctor again, and shortly after, I was taken directly to the operating room.
About 4 hours later, I was back in my room. Fortunately, I had no pain and felt surprisingly good under the circumstances. The nurses took very good care of me. Since I was dealing with significant swelling, my doctor recommended staying an additional night in the hospital, as I would be well looked after there and he expected the swelling to get worse by the third day, which unfortunately was the case. It was no problem to stay another night at the hospital. I was well cared for, and even my companion was provided with food.
On the 5th day, I had an appointment with the doctor to remove the nasal packing, and on the day of departure, the cast was removed and the stitches were taken out. I was then able to inspect myself in the mirror. At that point, I couldn’t fully rejoice yet, as everything was still swollen and bruised. The doctor put on a new cast, which I was able to remove myself at home after a week.
Even two weeks after the surgery, when I could inspect my nose in the mirror again, I was shocked and still couldn’t quite come to terms with it. The bridge and tip of my nose were still swollen and hard. I also still had some mild bruising under my eyes.
Today, it’s already been 4 weeks since my surgery. I have slowly gotten used to my nose. It also looks perfectly fine for everyday life. However, since we are always our own harshest critics, there are still things that bother me, which of course are related to the swelling that will last at least 3 months (though these are only noticeable to my own critical eye). However, the nose already looks much better than before the surgery.

I still need a lot of patience to wait for my healing process to finish until I can see the final result. 🙂
