Patient Report on Dental Treatment in Istanbul
After a TV report in 2010 about eye laser treatments in Turkey, I searched online for a Swiss mediator. A few weeks later, I visited a fair in Zurich and got to know Swisslasik/MedicalTravel. After a complete eye test in Switzerland, I was able to travel to Turkey just a few weeks later.
I was picked up at the airport and driven to the hotel. The next morning, a German-speaking translator accompanied me to the clinic. My eyes were thoroughly tested again (everything was fine), and after lunch, the laser treatment began. The “operation” was successfully completed in just a few minutes, after which I rested briefly in a dark room, and there was another check to ensure everything was fine. The next morning, the doctor checked my eyes again, and the treatment was successfully completed. Back in Switzerland, I went for two follow-up appointments to check if everything had healed well, and the doctor was very satisfied.
It is now the end of 2019, and I was already embarking on my third trip with MedicalTravel… This time, just before Christmas, I went to Istanbul for dental treatment. Before my departure, I was able to meet the dentist in Zurich, and my teeth were X-rayed with a 3D image. Everything was discussed in detail. A few days later, I received an estimate, and MedicalTravel organized everything for me.
The dentist also works in Zurich (she alternates between Istanbul and Zurich), so she also speaks Swiss German, among other languages. She is a very friendly person and works with great precision.
2-3 weeks later, I flew to Istanbul, where I was greeted at the airport and driven to the hotel. In the afternoon, I had some free time and was able to take a walk around the city. The next day, the same driver took me to the clinic, which is located in a modern center and looked just like one you would find in Zurich.
The dental treatment went very well. I had 5 teeth “repaired,” and my mother had a few more.
Ms. Dizdar worked very carefully and calmly. In the end, everything was checked and X-rayed multiple times to ensure that everything was really in good condition.
These additional X-rays were not charged, and in Turkey, the service is much better; they are very generous here!
This time, I stayed in Istanbul for 7 days. Even though fewer days were needed for the treatments, I was able to enjoy this beautiful city a little more.
There is so much to see, the city is very modern and western-oriented, and you feel a bit like you’re in a Swiss big city… Many well-known store chains like H&M, MediaMarkt, Deichmann, etc. are present, but there are also many traditional shops, creating a colourful mix. For food, some shopping, and entry fees, I only needed CHF 100 for the entire week.
Depending on where you eat, you can get things like döner or fish sandwiches for just CHF 1-2.
On Istiklal Street, there are many restaurants, and while they are a bit more “upscale,” a meal for two people, including dessert, cost less than CHF 20, including tips – which I was happy to give.
By the way, I was also able to go to the eye clinic again, and the follow-up examination was free of charge.
General Review:
– The 3 different hotels were always clean, the breakfast was more than plentiful, and the hotel staff was very friendly.
– It’s worth adding 2, 3, or even more days for sightseeing or shopping (bazaar, shopping centers).
– The people are open and friendly.
– Modern clinics, friendly staff, definitely better than in Switzerland – not worse at all!
– The city is very clean – it’s cleaned every day.
– The new airport in Istanbul is modern, and the staff is very helpful.
– Top-quality work at a very affordable price.
My mother had concerns/prejudices/fears about Turkey in 2010. Now, she has been to Istanbul four times and has become a fan.
We will definitely return!
